Funder Southampton City Council (and various other Local Authorities previously)
Context A local authority today cannot operate in isolation from the citizens it serves. This means engaging with residents to understand their views, communicate progress, and solicit their opinions. But how? The era of the dreaded public meeting - with experts on the podium and shouting residents in the audience - is over with the advent of more sensitively and effectively designed workshops. Council officers however do not always have the skills to run this kind of workshop.
3KQ's Role We ran our flagship 3 day training course in Facilitation Skills for 12 people. This covered a brief introduction to stakeholder engagement, workshop design, listening and questioning skills, as well as managing difficult behaviour. The course was an engaging mixture of group work, lecture and live practice.
