Context  Veolia holds the contract for all of Nottinghamshire's waste management services. They are currently submitting planning applications for various facilities, including an Energy from Waste plant: commonly known as an incinerator except that electricity is also generated. The company wanted to discuss the proposal with residents from the village most affected by the plans.

3KQ's Role  3KQ set up and facilitated a Community Liaison Group so that local people could hear details of the plans and also challenge Veolia staff on various questions such as: site selection, facility design and environmental concerns. Wide-ranging points of view existed given the contentious topic, requiring skilful facilitation and delicate planning.
